Where to from here?

There is so much in the media at the moment about first home buyers and people struggling to get onto the property ladder. It got me thinking about the people who have already purchased their first homes, and what they are doing with them now. Did they buy to make some money in the crazy Auckland property market by then selling it on quickly? Did they buy a "do-up" they will work on slowly to create their dream home? Did they continue renting and buy an investment property instead, with the view that they would use it later as leverage? Did they buy specifically to get capital gain, or did they buy a property they loved to stay in long term?

People have such different approaches to property. I know that when my partner and I are looking to buy we inevitably end up in disagreements over whether we buy a "sensible" property which will do right by us, or whether we pushed our budget to buy something that has an X Factor we love.

With these questions in mind I thought I would do some short posts over the coming weeks on different people who have bought in this market, and what they are doing with their properties now.

Keep an eye on the blog for more to come - and let me know if you have an interesting story to share.
